If you don't eat fish, go find your beef somewhere else.

Want to know a dirty little secret about farmed salmon?  The fish meat is actually grey.  Obviously that won't sell, especially not for $10/pound.  So the fish are given artificial color to give it that nice red look.  Pull out that Home Depot paint chart... and choose your color.

Wild salmon eat and get their color from krill (red shrimpy things), while farm salmon eat fish  food made of ground-up fish waste and trimmings.  That explains why farmed salmon tastes like crap.

It's all about profits.  Suckers pay more $ for red meat.   For years, big grocery chains like Safeway, Albertson, and Krogers, illegally concealed the artificial coloring as claimed in a Nationwide Class Action Law Suit.

To keep costs low, farmed salmon are often raised in open sea cages.  Suppose you and a million of your Facebook friends decide to live real close togther.  You'd get a bad case of cooties.

Wild salmon lack the pesticides and antibiotics given to farmed salmon and often get infect by sea lice as a result.

Like Vista on last year's top of the line laptop, these blood sucking parasites are a real drag.

So how can you spot the fishy stuff?  Best way is to go to a store that sells and labels both and compare side by side.   Observe the artificial orange colour and thick white fat lines ask yourself
